Cold Stratifying Perennial Seeds for Better Germination

Are you planning to grow some perennial plants from seed this year? Maybe you've tried before but had poor results? In this video, Nathan shows you the ONE thing you might need to do to make sure your perennial seeds germinate and take off! He walks you through collecting seed from the great, native perennial, Purple Coneflower, and then discusses how to "stratify" the seed so that you increase your chances of good germination. Not all seed need to be stratified in order to get growing, but many do. Nathan teaches you how to stratify your seeds outdoors naturally over winter and also shows you how to stratify your seeds in your kitchen over spring and summer.
